PETE or PET
PETE or PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) properties
PETE or PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) is one of the most common thermoplastic polymer resins in the family of polyester. It is made from ethylene glycol; commonly known as MEG or Mono Ethylene Glycol. PETE is derived from the combination of MEG and dimethyl terephthalate (DMT). It is a colourless, semi-crystalline resin. It holds high strength and stiffness, and it is very lightweight. With good gas and moisture barrier properties, PETE holds a broad range of use temperatures, from -60 to 130 °C. It is suitable for transparent applications. Polyethylene terephthalate is recyclable, shatterproof as well transparent to microwave radiation. It is a clear polymer, safe. Moreover, it is lightweight and recyclable. It holds a good barrier and good resistance power.
PETE uses
PETE or PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) is used in textile, both rigid and flexible packaging. It is good for producing water bottles and bottles of carbonated soft drinks. Polyethylene terephthalate is usually used for packaging peanut butter, cooking oil, shampoo, liquid hand soap, mouthwash, etc. Polyethylene terephthalate performs injection stretch molding of a bottle. It is used in fibre and film applications. Some special grade of PETE is used to prepare food trays that can be warmed in the microwave and oven. Moreover, it is used for the manufacturing of shopping bags, videotapes, and even for the manufacturing of clothes, and housing materials. It uses for the manufacturing of microwave containers. It uses for manufacturing carpets, packaging films, etc.
Advantages of PETE (Polyethylene Terephthalate)
The main benefit of PET(Polyethylene terephthalate) is that it is shatterproof, and non-reactive in the contact with food and water while it produces a ratio of strength-to-weight. It is very lightweight and so it provides for cost savings while transporting the products using the PE packaging. It is the ideal product for recycling. Henceforth, Polyethylene Terephthalate is considered as Green Plastic.
